Matthew 4:12-17 “The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” (v.16)
When I was a child, my family went to a camp in Bridgton, Maine, each summer. A majority of the camp had no electricity. Only a few community buildings and family cabins had lights. Therefore, many areas of the camp were pitch-black at night.
One evening the camp showed a movie for all the campers. I got scared during the movie and ran out into the dark night. I could barely see my hand in front of my face, but I knew (had faith) our cabin was somewhere out there in the darkness. I blindly began to walk forward, tripping over roots and stumps. Then I saw a sparkle of light in the distance. My little legs began to churn as I ran to the safety of our cabin’s light. I didn’t dare look behind me into the darkness. I kept my eyes focused on the beacon of light ahead.
Jesus is our beacon of Light. Join me in leaving the darkness behind and running to His Light.
