John 5:30-47 “By myself I can do nothing…” (v.30a NIV)
About 5 1/2 years ago, the doctors basically told me to either change the way I was living or risk dying. The doctors informed me that I was 100 pounds overweight. I realized that my entire lifestyle had to change. So, I learned to eat properly, exercise daily, and get enough sleep each night.
However, as I stepped on the scale each week, I became overwhelmed and discouraged. Some weeks I had only lost one pound. I thought, “At this rate I’m never going to lose 100 pounds!” I admit that there were times that I wanted to give up. As my walk with God deepened, I began to realize that I wasn’t alone. God, wanted me healthy! His Word told me: “For nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37). I prayed for a steadfast spirit to sustain me (Psalm 51) as I continued on the journey. I leaned on God and lost the weight.
Is there some circumstance in your life that seems impossible? Remember that with God all things are possible! He is your strength!
