Sword of the Spirit

Jan 8, 2023 | Blog, Symbi Sunday

A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back to back and conquer.  Ecclesiastes 4:12a NLT

and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  Ephesians 6:17b NLT

Awhile back, one of my best friends asked me to create a piece of artwork with the two of us in it.  I have to admit that I put it off for several years.  Bad me!  Then a month or so ago, he received a medical diagnosis.  Suddenly, I knew exactly the piece of art I wanted to create.

The two Scriptures above were the basic foundation for the artwork I created.  I wanted him to know that I had his back in prayer.  And that we were going to use the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, to defeat whatever the enemy was trying to throw at him.

For me, creating this was offering up a visual prayer to the Lord on my friend’s behalf.   My hope is that when my friend looks at the artwork he will know that I am praying for him.  Having the head of a lion on the sword (in Revelation Jesus is referred to as the Lion of Judah) is my visual equivalent of saying, “In Jesus’ name” at the end of a prayer.

Until next time blessings and healing
