Psalm 118 This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
(v.24 NIV)

I have a confession to make. I have never been a morning person. This semester I am completing my internship for my Social Work degree. I have to get up at 5:00 a.m. so I can be at my internship on time. I profess His Word before I even get out of bed. I do this in order to greet the day with thanksgiving and gladness.

The first words out of my mouth in the morning are this verse from Psalm 118. Paul’s words to the Philippians also remind me to rejoice in the Lord always (Philippians 3:1, 4:4). I believe that each day is a gift to be enjoyed. My early morning walks are becoming the high point of my day as I look at the Lord’s glory reflected in nature. I have to admit I am becoming more of a morning person.

This is a new day that the Lord has made for us, His children; join me in rejoicing!
