Are you stopped up? Has your well gone dry? Do you feel like you are far away from God? Sometimes we feel like the world is overwhelming us. The stress of our family, friends, job, or unemployment just seems to stop up the flow of the Spirit in us.
It’s like the enemy uses people and things to stop up the spiritual well of Living Water inside of us. The enemy starts tossing in dirt and rocks into our spiritual well and we begin to feel dry. The enemies of the Israelites often used the technique of stopping up their wells in order to force the Israelites out of their territory:
Genesis 26:14 He had so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him. 15 So all the wells that his father’s servants had dug in the time of his father Abraham, the Philistines stopped up, filling them with earth.
When the wells were filled, the people had to move in search of water. It was a common ploy of their enemy. It’s a common ploy of our enemy also. He loves to send people and things to throw dirt in our spiritual wells. The Israelite’s enemies even had people whose specific job was to throw stones on the good land, stop up all the springs of water, and fell all the good trees in order to defeat the Israelites. They actually had a name for these people, they were called “Slingers”.
2 Kings 3:25(AMP) They beat down the cities [walls], and on every good piece of land every man cast a stone, covering it [with stones]. And they stopped all the springs of water and felled all the good trees, until only the stones [of the walls of Moab’s capital city] of Kir-hareseth were left standing, and the slingers surrounded and took it.
Do you have some slingers in your life? Is there a person or a circumstance that seems to be constantly throwing stones at you and interfering with the flow of the Holy Spirit in you?
You might feel like the slingers in your life are burying you alive and stopping up your well, but with God as your partner the current situation can be turned around. God can set you free from any circumstance. Stop letting the slingers get control of you through your circumstances. Lean on God, step up on the dirt/rocks they throw, and step into God’s freedom. God has Living Water waiting for you!
This is God’s promise to us:
Romans 8:28 (AMP) We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
