Back from Christian Artwork Workshop

For my Birthday, I was blessed to receive a subscription to an amazing 2 month Chrisitan Art Workshop.  So for the next 2 months, I will be focusing on that art workshop.  I will be posting my weekly assignments from the workshop in my curated projects and with explanations on my blog below.  This means I will be taking a break from my regular blogging and podcasts until the end of April.  I am really excited about this amazing creative opportunity to learn from well known Christian artist, Kevin Cardin.  I look foward to seeing you when I come back 🙂

Psalm 29 The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. (v.11 NIV) “Quitter!” That word from my adolescence taunted me as I accepted a full-time position at the Healing Ministry. I was two semesters away from receiving my Masters in...

Psalm 57 I am in the midst of lions; I lie among ravenous beasts—men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. (v.4) I have found that words can leave deeper scars than physical wounds. I once got hit in the face; the bruises ached and...

Psalm 72 He will defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; he will crush the oppressor. (v.4 NIV) At a Christian concert, I heard this true story about a photographer. While in Africa he was walking by a bush when he heard soft...

Acts 16:25-40 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open,...

Acts 17:1-15 But the Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city. (v.5a) Have you ever sat in the midst of a group of angry people? Voices raised, shoulders rigid, eyes shooting...

Acts 17:16-34 “And he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have...

Mark 6:30-46 But so many people were coming and going that Jesus and the apostles did not even have a chance to eat. Then Jesus said, “Let’s go to a place where we can be alone and get some rest.” (v.31 CEV) “There just aren’t enough hours in the day.” Do you find...

Welcome to

Fish and Chips

Inspired by John 6:9-13

Fish and chips, really?  Yep, that is the name the Lord gave me for this website.  Three times over the last week, a podcast popped up on my phone.  I never even tapped on the podcast, but it was very persistent in trying to get my attention.  After the third time I decided I better listen to it.  So, I did.

The Pastor was preaching on the one miracle that appears in all four of the Gospels.  The miracle of Jesus feeding the 5,000.  In John’s telling of the miracle, we find out that the disciples asked a young boy for his two fish and five loaves of bread.  He gave it to them.  Jesus took the bread, gave thanks to the Lord, and proceeded to multiply what the little boy had given Him to feed 5,000+ people that day.

When the Pastor was telling us about this amazing miracle, he called the fish and bread the boy had, “fish and chips.”  As soon as I heard him say that I knew that Jesus had just given me the name for this website.

Giving Our Fish and Chips

That day, Jesus asked a little boy for his lunch.  Without hesitation the little boy handed his lunch over then watched as Jesus took that meager offering to multiply it into enough food to feed 5,000 men plus all the women and children there that day.  The Lord loves to work through us to serve others.  His invitation to each of us is to give what we have to Him then He will use it to serve others through us.

As that idea sunk in, I realized that everything I’ve ever written, painted, or recorded has simply been me giving Jesus my fish and chips.  He then blesses it, multiplies it, and gives it to others.  It might not look like we have enough fish and chips to help others, but in God’s hands it will feed everyone that needs feeding.

This website is me handing over my small supply of fish and chips to Jesus knowing that He has plans to bless it, multiply it, and use it to feed people who are hungry for God’s healing.  He has had me writing, painting, and recording stuff for the last fifteen plus years.  Since 2019, all of it has just been sitting on my hard drive gathering dust.  God’s timing is perfect, so I have to believe there is a reason He has asked for my fish and chips at this specific time.  I am humbled and blessed that He has invited me to partner with Him in this new season.  My prayer is that if all of us give Jesus our fish and chips, He will bless them, multiply them, and give them to others as He heals our world.

My Testimony of God's Healing

by Kirsten A | Healing Service 2005

“There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish.  But that is a drop in the bucket for a crowd like this.”  Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.  There was a nice carpet of green grass in this place.  They sat down, about five thousand of them.  Then Jesus took the bread, and having given thanks, gave it those who were seated.  He did the same with the fish.  All ate as much as they wanted.

The Curated Projects

Over the next couple of months, I will be posting my weekly assignments from my Christian Photoshop Workshop with Kevin Cardin.  While the other students are using photographs for all parts of the artwork, I am using 3D characters as the subjects for my art.  Each week we have one assignment that will progressively get more difficult as we work through the workshop.  Down in my blog you will see short explanations of the assignments and the uncropped version of the artwork for the week.
