John 9:1-17 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world. (v.5)

When I was a child I would go visit my grandparents on Gibson Island, Maryland. Their house was on a cul-de-sac and was surrounded by woods. When it got dark, there were no street lights to chase away the darkness. I would often walk towards the end of the driveway fascinated by the sounds of nature saying goodnight to the Lord. Then I would realize how dark it was away from the house.

Out of the corner of my eye I would see a sudden spark of light. In fascination my head would turn towards the light. Tiny lightning bugs were flying around and every few seconds a spark of light would appear. Even though they were small, their light chased away the darkness.

This memory paints a perfect picture to remind me that darkness can not exist where there is light. Jesus is the Light. When I become overwhelmed by circumstances, I turn towards Jesus. He will light the way out of the darkness and bring me into His safe embrace.

Until next time blessings and healing
