Heart of God

In the worship song, Heart of God, the lyrics say “…there’s beauty from ashes, so come as you are.  And there’s only love in the heart of God…”

Those lyrics come from one of my favorite Scriptures in Isaiah 61.  It is written:  To all who mourn in Israel, He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair…v3. NLT

Basically, the ashes represent a circumstance that is hopeless.  It is when we have done everything humanly possible, but it just wasn’t enough.  Thankfully, God isn’t limited by our human possibilities.  With God all things are possible.  The Hebrew word for beauty translates as headdress or crown.  He puts a crown of beauty on our heads to remind us that that our circumstance is not hopeless for Him.  I love that visual!

The next time I feel down or hopeless, I am going to close my eyes imagining God brushing the ashes off my head to put a crown of beauty (hope) on it instead.  Remembering, as Zach sings in the song, “there is beauty from ashes so come as you are and there is only love in the heart of God.”

Take few moments to enjoy the Worship video below.

Until next time blessings and healing
