God’s Favorite

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…
John 1:12

Did you know that you are God’s favorite?  And guess what, so am I.

I remember when I first became a Christian I heard in a Bible Study that God didn’t play favorites because each of us was His favorite. He created each of us because He wanted to be in relationship with us.

That was very confusing for me. I just didn’t get how we could all be His favorite. I mean He had to love the person who was leading a godly life more than He loves a murderer, right? Of course, He would have to love the person who was doing the most Bible Studies or the person leading the most people to Christ more than other people, right?!?

Then I began creating characters for a story that I believe God has put on my heart. As I created each one, I thought to myself now this one is my favorite character. Then I’d create the next one and think now this one is my favorite. I soon realized that each of them were my favorite. They each had a role to play in the story. None of the roles were more important than the other role because every single character’s story was important in order to make the story work. If even one character was left out then the storyline wouldn’t work the way it was meant to be told.

Each character is my favorite. Each character has an integral role in the story. Without that character being a part of the story the entire storyline changes. I need all of them to tell the story.

So, going back to what I heard in my first Bible Study that, “God doesn’t play favorites because each of us are His favorite.”  I’d like to rephrase that to say that all of God’s children are His favorites.   He wants to be in relationship with every human He creates. We are His choice. We each have an integral role in His story. Without each one of us the storyline changes. And God already knows the end of story, so if He created you then you have a purpose in His story.

Today I encourage you to thank Jesus that He chose you to be in relationship with Him. That you are His favorite and so is everyone else. Thank Him that each of us are a special part of His story. Thank Him that we are loved by Him!

Until next time blessings and healing
