FOMG

Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually. Psalm 105:4 ESV

Do you have FOMO?  Do you even know what FOMO means?  Well, I didn’t know what it meant, but I was afflicted by it for years.

FOMO is the FEAR OF MISSING OUT.  First thing when I woke up, I would grab my phone, check my email, or peruse Facebook.  Then when I took a shot at online dating my FOMO get even worse.  What would would happen if I missed a wink or a message from someone interested in me?

I had become addicted to my phone.  And wouldn’t go anywhere without it because I might miss out on something.  It was the first thing and my last thing.

Then I began hearing sermons and messages on seeking God first.  Giving Him my firsts in the morning.  I was being convicted to spend time with God first.  Before checking my email or clicking on my Facebook app.  The more time I spent focused on God, the less control my phone had over my life.

My FOMO had given way to FOMG, FEAR OF MISSING GOD.  I didn’t want to miss out on His plans for my life.  Or miss His answer to my prayers.  Or miss His correction when I was going down the wrong road.  Or especially, I didn’t want to miss my Father daughter time with Him!

Today I invite you to let go of any FOMO that rears its head and pick up the fear of missing God (FOMG) instead.  Unplug from technology for awhile, be still and spend some quality time with Jesus today.  I promise you that you won’t regret it.

Until next time blessings and healing
