At Home In Jesus’ Love

Dec 29, 2022 | Blog, Healing Thoughts, Throwback Thursday

When I first came to the Healing Ministry, over four years ago, I had a skewed perception of God.  I was a new Christian and my image of God was seen through the tainted lenses of my prior relationships with men in my life. (i.e. ex-husband, and boyfriends.)  I had no clue who God was or how to have a relationship with Him.

Then I began to participate in the Healing Ministry activities, offered at The Glennon House, and to attend the Healing Missions.  These activities gave me the desire to dig deeper into God’s Word to discover the answer to the questions, “Who is God and what could He possibly want with someone like me?”

This was the beginning of my healing journey with my Lord, Jesus Christ.  Once I knew who He was, I was finally able to receive the healing that He wanted to do in my life.  As He healed me, I began to realize that God had created me to be in relationship with Him.   His love has transformed my life!

One day as I was reading the Bible, I stumbled across a Scripture that painted the most glorious picture of Jesus’ love for His children:

John 15:9-10  (MSG) “I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love. If you keep my commands, you’ll remain intimately at home in my love. That’s what I’ve done—kept my Father’s commands and made myself at home in his love.

Call me old fashioned or a romantic but this description of the Lord’s love really touches my heart.  It brings to mind the smell of apple pie, coffee, rooms overflowing with laughter, and the popping of fires in the fireplace.

Make yourself at home in my love.

Does that stir up your heart the way it does mine?  I feel welcomed.  Like Jesus has thrown open the door of His house giving me an open invitation to visit Him anytime I want.  It doesn’t matter the time of day, the weather, or my mood.  He is there standing at the door waiting for me to show up.  When He sees me round the corner, I can almost see the grin pulling at His lips and His voice calling out, “Hey Kirsten” as He comes out to greet me.

Then He goes one step farther throwing the door open even wider and says, “…you’ll remain intimately at home in my love.”  I’m reminded of friends who have given me the keys to their homes, giving me the ability to come into their house at any time.  I can walk in whether they are at home or gone.  They trust me enough to give me free access to everything in their house.  I have the keys to Jesus’ home…a home filled to overflowing with love.  I can walk into His house take off my shoes, curl up in the arm chair, stare at the dancing flames in the fireplace,  fall asleep in His home, or have a conversation with Him about everything that is going on in my life.  Whatever I choose to do, He wants me to make myself at home in his love!

Accepting the invitation to make my home in Jesus is what brought me to a place of wholeness.  I had spent a majority of my life broken and weary.  The love of Jesus and His healing touch have rebuilt and renewed me.  My prayer is that each of you would accept Jesus’ invitation to make your home in Him.

He is at the door waiting for you…
